Lazio defender Nicolo Casale has taken a key step forward in his recovery and the club are now confident he’ll be back on the pitch soon.

The 25-year-old Italian centre back suffered a muscle adductor injury during the Biancocelesti’s 3-1 loss to Feyenoord in the Champions League on 25th October, forcing him to the sidelines for the last two league outings against Fiorentina and Bologna.

Casale has also been distracted by off-pitch issues, having falsely been accused of being involved in the recent Serie A betting scandal by gossip columnist Fabrizio Corona, a former paparazzo with a criminal history.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Casale’s recovery has progressed well and the Lazio doctors have now given him the green light to return to the pitch.

The 25-year-old will now return to squad training in the coming days, giving him the chance of being called up for the fast-approaching Derby della Capitale against Roma next weekend.
