Who will Charles Oliveira next fight be against?

Following a frustrating loss to fast-rising star Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300, “Do Bronx” has fallen a few spots back in the contender line and will not have to win a fight or two to get back into title contention. That is why for his next bout matchups with Justin Gaethje, Rafael Fiziev, and Jalin Turner make a lot of sense.

The Highlight: Gaethje and Oliveira have fought before with the Brazilian scoring a big first-round submission. With each coming off losses and wanting one more title shot, a win in a rematch could go a long way toward that goal because of both men’s name value in the division.
Atman: Fiziev is a fighter hovering right around the top five of lightweight. Oliveira has yet to face him and it would be a fresh booking near the top of the division.
Tarantula: Turner scored a big win at UFC 300 and getting a notable step up in competition makes a lot of sense for him. While it is a risky fight for Oliveira, stealing away the American’s momentum would help his case for another title fight.

While it was a hard-fought and close fight, Charles Oliveira had a tough time dealing with the outstanding wrestling of Arman Tsrukyan in their UFC 300 main card scrap in April.

What happened: Although “Do Bronx” nearly scored a submission on two occasions against Tsrukyan, the young star battled out of it both times. Beyond that, he was able to use impressive striking to set up his grappling and ground the former champion for the majority of their three-round fight. Grinding out a strong split-decision victory.

The fallout: If Oliveira wanted to get another title fight in 2024 he needed to win, so the loss to the Armenian likely means the Brazilian’s championship hopes have been pushed all the way back to 2025.

The roadmap: There are a lot of ways for the former lightweight king to go in his UFC return, but the most likely scenario is a fresh matchup against a fighter like Rafael Fiziev.
