Phillies Superstar Rips Horrendous Jerseys
Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

Teams across the entirety of Major League Baseball are getting new jerseys that are manufactured by Fanatics. The design is aiming to improve performance and help players stay cool throughout games that are played during the summer when temperatures are at their peak.

While the idea is great, it's the look of them that has sparked controversy.

Philadelphia Phillies superstar Trea Turner did not mince words when it came to his thoughts on the new design.

"I know everyone hates them," he said according to Steve Megargee of The Associated Press.

This has been the response among the majority of fans who have voiced their displeasure at any moment they can.

These new jerseys are the Nike Vapor Premier versions and 2024 would be the first year that they would be utilized. Nike has been the jersey designer since 2020 and Fanatics has been the manufacturer since 2017.

It seems like both need to go back to the drawing board prior to Opening Day.

The difference in appearance between last year's uniform and this year's is borderline offensive.

Having a professional sports league trot their players around in something that cheap looking should have Major League Baseball seriously considering the future of their partnership with Nike and Fanatics.

On top of that, both apparel companies are still charging fans an exorbitant amount of money to own one of these jerseys.

"We all liked what we had. We understand business, but I think everyone wanted to keep it the same way, for the most part, with some tweaks here or there," Turner added when discussing the new look.

Hopefully the players' voices are heard on this matter.

If the MLB allows these jerseys to be worn during the 2024 season, that will be a massive mistake on everyone's part.
