The Reds have kept a close eye on the starting pitcher market this offseason. They seem poised to acquire a veteran via trade or to sign a free agent that can bolster their rotation.
Graham Ashcraft was recently asked about the leadership of their young rotation during an appearance on MLB Network.
"I would say with all of us being young, there's not really that one guy. We're young. We're still trying to figure out who we are as players and teammates," Ashcraft said. "It's kind of a good mix. Certain guys pick up people certain days. It's not really one specific player."
Ashcraft made 26 starts for the Reds last season, posting a 4.76 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 145 2/3 innings. He's part of a rotation that includes Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo, Andrew Abbott and Brandon Williamson.
